The initiative which is backed by the local government of Ibiza, has so far seen around 60 private properties offered up as part of the campaign.
NHS workers and other health heroes across Europe could land a free holiday to the Spanish party island of Ibiza next year, as a thank you for their hard work during the coronavirus pandemic.
The local government of Ibiza have said they are backing the ‘Together for Health Heroes’ scheme, which aims to show gratitude to healthcare workers for their “professionalism and strength” during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Together for Health Heroes website says it aims “to find at least 1,000 best in class accommodation providers in Europe” to provide free lodging for health heroes next year.

The statement adds: “It all started with a simple idea early in March. How can we say thank you to those fighting for the lives of our families, friends and communities?
“How can we say thank you to those putting their own lives at risk for us? Together we are driving change by celebrating and rewarding those who put our community, family and friends first during the COVID-19 outbreak.
“Unprecedented times highlight exceptional people. We thank those who we have trusted with our lives, by gifting them our homes and hotels in Ibiza and across Europe.”
The free accommodation would be available outside of peak season, in April, May and October and is said to include staff from hospitals, hospices and care homes, and the lucky recipients would be invited to stay for a week.
Around 60 private properties have already been offered, as well as rooms in the Atzaro, OD Hoteles, Concept Hotel Group and Aguas de Ibiza hotel chains.
Speaking to Ibiza paper, Diaro de Ibiza, tourism councillor of Ibiza Juan Miguel Costa said: “[The project aims to] compensate those who have looked after us, risking their lives in many cases, and who deserve that we all do our share to make sure they have holidays that meet high expectations.”
Turkish Airlines recently said it would provide a 40% discount on flight tickets for NHS workers.
